A young Lothian badminton team found the Celtic Challenge competition involving Ulster, Leinster and Glasgow a tough learning experience, but are tipped to emerge stronger for the experience.

Traditionally the strongest of the Irish contingents, Leinster and Ulster included nine players with international experience for contests at Meadowmill Sports Centre, East Lothian..

The Lothian under-15/16 (2009) team’s concluding encounter with Glasgow was much tighter, going down 7-8, to demonstrate real resilience after a couple of understandably tough matches.

Those who aspired to representative honours in Lothian colours were:

Lucy Dagg, Amy Hunter, Emma Joshua, Flo Kirkpatrick, Sophie Walker, Ingrid Wang, Aryan Aniruddhan, Melrick D’Souza, Dylan Jia, Vincent Li, Josh Ryan and Justin Wong.
