A Scottish video producer who is behind the Scotdisc record and video label, one of Scotland’s most successful and the subject of a recent BBC Scotland documentary, has become the one hundredth customer of Scotland’s leading log cabin and garden building supplier, Log House Scotland.

Dougie Stevenson along with his wife Lati, purchased an Eco Garden Room from Log House Scotland to use as a music studio/office in their garden.

Constructed with structural insulated panels, the same technology which is seen in newbuild houses, the energy efficient structure is constructed from the finest Scandinavian pine, with a thermal wood exterior cladding. It is complete, are all buildings from Log House Scotland, with a comprehensive ten-year guarantee.

Working closely with Dougie, who is also a professional steel guitarist, Log House Scotland were able to create a bespoke design for him, adding an extra window to the Garden Room which he chose. The finished construction provides maximum flexibility, with Dougie able to incorporate three work stations into the light filled space, along with music equipment, lots of treasured gold discs – plus his beloved steel guitar collection.

Dougie, who has worked with Scottish music legends including the late Sydney Devine, Lena Martell, and The Alexander Brothers said: “I am delighted with the Garden Room – it looks fantastic and is a great addition to my garden, as well as providing me with a practical and modern workspace which keeps all my equipment away from the house.”

Specialising in authentic Scottish traditional music, folk, ballads, Scottish military music and easy listening, Scotdisc sells to customers all over the world via online digital distribution such as Spotify, You Tube, and Tik Tok, Its website now lists 2,000 titles.

Dougie set up the label with his business partner, Bill Garden, forty years ago.

“Needless to say, running the label generates a lot of admin for us, as we receive messages from all over the globe about our music,” added Dougie. “Now, with the Garden Room, everything can be looked after from here – it’s made life a lot easier and we feel so much more organised.”

“Another bonus, particularly for my wife, is that I can play any of my steel guitars out in the Garden Room, coming up with new melodies, and just generally enjoying myself, without disturbing her.” said Dougie.

Dougie visited Log House Scotland at the company’s purpose built showroom and sales centre within Caulders Garden Centre in Cumbernauld.

Entrepreneur Jonathan Doherty who also operates a hospitality business, set up Log House Scotland in 2021, following the huge success of its parent business in Ireland.

With more than 5,000 installations to date, the business is now Ireland and the UK’s leading supplier of log cabins and garden buildings, able to customise a log cabin or garden house to a customer’s exact specifications. With a combined experience in the building industry of over 50 years, Log House Scotland, and its parent firm, has its own in house team of sales associates, designers, architects and project managers.

“Log House Scotland told me that they have many customers using Garden Houses as business spaces, all types of businesses from gyms to nail spas, to dog groomers and child minding, but as far as I know, I am the only one who plays a steel guitar in one!” said Dougie. “I’ve had great service from Log House Scotland and am happy to recommend them to anyone – it’s made a huge difference to my wife and I!”

He finished by saying: “If in the future, I retire from doing this, we will have a lovely Garden House to sit in, and admire the views, but for now, I’m still loving making, and selling, music.”
