A top whisky distillery has created a unique new single malt Scotch inspired by “the joy of New Year”.
The Macallan’s latest limited edition release, “A Night on Earth – The Journey”, was specially created to represent “the journey to reunite with loved ones and those unique moments around the world when we come together”.
The seasonal release was created by the leading Speyside distillery in collaboration with acclaimed Chinese artist Nini Sum, whose multi-layered packaging designs “reflect the joyous and celebratory nature of the occasion”.
Sum’s artwork represents the different stages of the journey to reunite with loved ones and captures her own memories of New Year celebrations, including lanterns and the night sky “strewn with stars and fireworks”.
The 43% ABV single malt whisky was matured in first-fill American ex-bourbon barrels along with sherry seasoned American and European oak casks.
The tasting notes indicate a “sunrise gold” colour, aromas of toasted oak and “a creamy steamed rice and coconut milk pudding” and flavours including “a burst of effervescent citrus fruits – lemon and lime with sweet creamy vanilla and toasted coconut”.
