Hibs’ striker Kevin Nisbet is enjoying life in the top-flight with a ‘massive’ club after making the step up from playing in the Championship last year.

The youngster has already scored seven times in nine starts and provided another couple of assists as Hibs have enjoyed their best start to the season in since the days of Franck Sauzee and Russell Latapy.

His partnership with Christian Doidge has contributed to that start and yesterday he scored the winner against Cove Rangers with a superb volley from Melker Hallberg’s cross which put the club in a good position to qualify for the latter stages of the Betfred League Cup.

After the final whistle Nisbet told Premier Sport: “It was tough. We knew it was going to be tough as Cove area a great team. Obviously there was a change with the astro (turf) as well.

“It was a hard game but we dug in and got the win.

“When the ball has got that pace on it it’s just a case of guiding it in. I just got in front of the defender and guided it into the top corner.

“It’s been great. Hibs are a really professional club and a massive club as well. I’ve made the step up well and hopefully it continues.”

Nisbet’s form has already resulted in calls for him to be included in the Scotland squad alongside team mates Ryan  Porteous and Paul McGinn but the youngster is content to concentrate on his Easter Road career.

“I’m just focusing on Hibs right now taking it game by game and we will see what happens.”
