A section of the M8, between junctions 4 and 4a, will be closed on Saturday and Sunday to facilitate a search for missing man Billy McDowell.
The hard shoulder and Lane 1 will be closed between 8:30am and approximately 8:00pm and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey if travelling in the area.
Billy McDowell, from Whitburn, was reported missing in early August and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Police have been continuing with the investigation to trace Mr McDowell since he was reported missing which has included reviewing CCTV and searches in the Whitburn area.
Inspector Myles Marshall said: “It is out of character for Billy to not contact his friends or family and we are urging anyone who may have seen him or has information about his disappearance to let us know.
“Our investigation remains ongoing and as part of our enquiry we’ll have officers searching the area between junctions 4 and 4a of the M8 this weekend.
“Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1621 of 2 August 2020.”
