Hibs’ highly rated defender Ryan Porteous has been named in Scot Gemmill’s squad for Scotland Under-21s upcoming European Qualifiers against Czech Republic and San Marino.
Following a 1-0 victory over Lithuania earlier this month, the 2019-21 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers resume with two crucial encounters in a bid for qualification.
First up, Scotland host Czech Republic at Tynecastle Park, before facing a trip to the San Marino Stadium.
Porteous has been in excellent form this season, forming a great partnership with Paul Hanlon in the middle of the Hibs’ defence which up until Sunday had not conceded a goal from open play.
He earned a call-up for the full squad last year for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Cyprus and Kazakhstan but did not play in either fixture.
A product of the Hibernian FC Academy, Porteous missed the latter part of last season due to an injury but his form during this campaign has been rewarded with another international call-up.
