Two of Scottish football’s most prolific goal scorers have praised Hibs’ summer signing Kevin Nisbet following his performance against Rangers at Easter Road on Sunday.
Nisbet joined Hibs for an undisclosed from Dunfermline Athletic and has scored four goals since the start of the season including a hat trick against Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
He has teamed up with fellow striker Christian Doidge to form a lethal partnership which has helped the club to third place in the table after eight games.
He almost gave Hibs the lead on Sunday after collecting a Drey Wright pass, taking a touch then firing a superb volley from the edge of the area which Jon McLaughlin tipped round the post.
Later he managed to get in front of Connor Goldson and controlled a pass from Paul McGinn before testing McLaughlin once again.
Throughout the hard-fought encounter he never stopped running and caused many problems to the Rangers defence which was noted by Rangers’ legends Ally McCoist and Kris Boyd.
Following the game McCoist who covered the match for Sky Sport raved about his overall performance.
The former Scotland international striker who scored over 400 goals in his club career said: “He was excellent. He was absolutely excellent from start to finish.
“ He is one of these lads, as soon as he sees the goal he fancies having a shot and I don’t mind that at all. In fact it’s a very endearing attitude to have. He takes a touch and hits it first time. I was impressed.
Fellow presenter Kris Boyd who scored over 100 league goals for Rangers and was top scorer during every full season he played there agreed with McCoist’ s assessment. He added: “I was impressed as well. His work rate gets him a lot of chances as well. Anytime he sees an opportunity for a shot at goal he is going to unleash.”
