Hibs’ winger Daryl Horgan has revealed that he has not had an offer of an extended contract at the club at this time but accepts that whether he does will be reliant on whether he is playing well.
Horgan, who is in the last year of his contract at Easter Road did his chances no harm at the weekend with an outstanding performance against Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena, setting up the first two goals for Kevin Nisbet and if he can keep up that standard he won’t be short of offers.
Hibs currently sit at the top of the table after two rounds of fixtures and have the chance to extend that lead against Dundee United at Tannadice tonight.
Speaking ahead of the game, Horgan said: “I’ve no contract offers. It will come down to a chat down the line. If I’m playing well, there will be a contract offer; if I’m not, there won’t. All I can do is keep working hard.
“Times have changed. I’m getting older and obviously we have the pandemic at the minute. That’s the way football is. It will be different for a little while so I’ll have to wait and see if there is an offer coming but at the moment, there hasn’t been one.”
His last international appearance for the Republic of Ireland came in a friendly against Poland almost two years ago and he accepts that his form last season wasn’t good enough to warrant a call-up bit he vows to keep working hard.
He continued: “I wasn’t playing well enough to get in the Irish squad under Mick McCarthy. When you’re not in there you need to be doing much better than the players that are already in there, and I wasn’t. If I’m playing and I’m playing well then there’ll be an opportunity. If I’m not, there won’t,” he said.
“I’d never turn down any opportunity to play for my country. It would be something I’d love to do again but we’ll just have to see.”

“I didn’t play under Mick McCarthy at all and you can say what you want about but I wasn’t playing well enough to get in the Irish squad.
