Police have issued the following advice to members of the public considering visiting Pentland Hills Regional Park this weekend.

If you’re visiting any of the reservoirs or heading up the hills, please show some consideration. There’s been some press coverage recently about people visiting our beauty spots and leaving litter, tents, BBQ’s, beer bottles and cans behind.

We want everyone to enjoy our lovely parks and green spaces in and around the city, but we’re asking you to show some respect so that everyone else can enjoy it as well.

Planning to visit this weekend?

Park responsibly: if car parks are full have a plan B, do not park irresponsibly. If you restrict or block access on narrow country roads you could prevent emergency services from getting through.

Leave no trace: bring a bag to collect your litter, put it in a bin or take it home with you. Remember if bins are full you need to take it home with you. Public toilets are still closed, ‘Go’ before you go or follow the correct etiquette for toileting outdoors.

Be considerate: don’t let your activity negatively impact on others. Maintain social distancing, the virus has not gone away.

Don’t light open fires in woodlands and keep BBQs on a hard-stony surface. Make sure they are fully extinguished before you bin them.
