Edinburgh Monarchs have confirmed that their overseas riders have returned home.

Bosses agreed to the move following requests from the racers who will jet back just before the action starts.

The British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) and the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) have suspended the season and the decision will be reviewed on April 15.

A Monarchs spokesman said: “As the situation changes on an almost hourly basis, the promotion will continue to review the latest advice and will release further statements when available.”

Meanwhile, Berwick Bandits have completed work on their new track.

A new safety fence has been installed on the home straight allowing more flowing exits to the bends and the surface has been completely re-laid to form a new track base with improved cambers.
