The Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC), a charity, has created a tool to get more information for those who have retired and want to take a decision on housing.
The Housing Options for Older People (HOOP) tool may help you if you have a downsizing decision to make.
Retirement agency, Sovereign Property Partnership, is working alongside the charity to make sure the information is available to those who need it. The agency say they try to help people ‘live independently for longer’.
Adam Hillier, Deputy Chief Executive of EAC, said: “Our HOOP tool is a survey and works like an MOT for your home, getting you to think about how well your home suits you and making recommendations for any concerns that you have. These recommendations include written suggestions, bespoke to older people in Edinburgh, along with details of local services, retirement housing and additional useful guides and factsheets to read.”
