Earlier tonight Labour heavyweights Sir Keir Starmer and Gordon Brown attended a public meeting in Edinburgh as part of the General Election campaign
In a show of support for the Edinburgh South Labour candidate Ian Murray they spoke to an assembled crowd of around 300 or so at Morningside Parish Church. On the day that the Labour Party launched their manifesto they had plenty to talk about.
Sir Keir Starmer told The Edinburgh Reporter that Ian Murray should be returned as MP. He said :”Ian has been a fantastic MP and is very highly regarded in Parliament and in his constituency.”
He also explained what the Labour Party would do about Brexit if they are elected to govern the UK.
They are going to “secure a better deal than Johnson has, put it to a referendum against Remain and get that done within six months. Very simple!”
Sir @Keir_Starmer was very gracious in granting us a quick word before he spoke to a public meeting in Morningside this evening to support @IanMurrayMP pic.twitter.com/ovDfRJmMdB
