There are some big names you may recognise from the comedy world including a monthly chat show with Fred Macaulay in Conversation. His past guests have included Craig Ferguson (who made a masterful return to stand up in his one-night only show during the Festival). You are promised stars from the worlds of sport, entertainment, business and politics at his shows on 13 October and 8 December 2019.

Glasgow comedian Scott Gibson will be appearing along with his pals to try out new jokes on real audiences and there is a show especially for parents and babies in Katie Mulgrew’s Mum’s the Word. You are invited to feel comfortable, feed your baby and enjoy the comedy.

The music will include Rootsbase the resident Trad and Folk night each Tuesday and also a literary rave with poets, rappers, musicians and comics hosted by Cat Hepburn.

Katy and Karen Koren, Directors of Gilded Balloon, said: “You know what they say: there’s no rest for the wicked! We’ve barely had time to put our wee feet up since the Fringe finished and already we can’t wait to bring the residents of Edinburgh the best in live entertainment over the coming autumn months. It may be an old adage, but there really is something for everyone at the Gilded Balloon Basement – so ‘mon down, pals!”
