Richie Worrall (pictured) powered to victory in the Harrisons Scottish Open at Armadale on Friday and he top scored as Leicester Lions took a firm grip on the SGB Championship Shield semi-final.

Worrall, a former Edinburgh Monarchs star, powered to 12 points as the Midlands club won the first-leg 54-36 against Berwick Bandits in England.

Aaron Summers was best for Berwick with 13 points on the night but team manager Gary Flint still believes.

He said that nobody should write off Berwick in the return in the Borders on Saturday with tapes-up at 7pm.

Elsewhere, the third round of the British Youth Championship in Glasgow was abandoned after Heat 23 because of medical cover and there was no official result in any category.
