Bellhaven Hill in Dunbar schoolteacher Duncan Riddell (Grange) scored as Scotland edged Egypt 3-2 in the FIH Series Finals in Le Touquet, France.

Scotland’s other scorers were Tayside born Cameron Golden (Grove Menzieshill) and Kenny Bain (Hurley) who netted the game-winner 40 seconds from time after a penalty corner.

The result guarantees Scotland a place in the quarter-final and Bain, a former Kelburne player, said: “We knew they (Egypt) had some talented players and a system that was going to be difficult to play against.

“We dealt with it well although we made it a bit hard for ourselves at times with missed opportunities, but the good thing is that we’re making them.”
