A Marks and Spencer (M&S) food hall in the west of Edinburgh has selected Big Hearts Community Trust as its local charity partner.

Staff at the store, in Chesser Avenue, will work with Big Hearts volunteers to raise funds in support of Big Hearts work in the community.

Big Hearts Community Trust is a family-focused charity working closely with Heart of Midlothian Football Club to support local individuals and families who are at risk of social isolation.

A set of fundraising activities at the food hall will take place throughout the year, with the first bag packing event on Sunday 25th of November, between 11am and 3pm.

Lauren MacPherson, Store Manager at M&S Chesser Avenue, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to have the opportunity to raise funds for Big Hearts Community Trust. They work tirelessly to help individuals and families who are in need in Edinburgh. We are delighted that colleagues and customers in our local community can come together to raise funds for such a worthy cause.”

Caryn Kerr, Fundraising and Development Manager at Big Hearts, said: “We are excited to be teaming up with our local M&S Food hall at Chesser Avenue to create opportunities for customers to support vulnerable families affected by social isolation. We look forward to hosting our first fundraising activity together on November 25.”

“Along with the Staff at M&S Chesser Avenue we would like to thank Bill and Sandra Alves, M&S customers and Big Hearts Supporters who helped initiate this partnership. They sum up perfectly what it’s all about – a community of big-hearted people joining forces to support those most in need.”
