Hibs’ youngster Jamie Gullan believes Thursday night’s Scottish Youth Cup victory over Aberdeen was a great achievement for the players and thoroughly deserved.

The result meant that Grant Murray’s side have completed the league and cup double, the first time the club have done this since 2009.

Aberdeen took the lead but Hibs fought back to win the game comfortably earning praise from Neil Lennon who watched the game alongside his assistant Garry Parker.

Gullan’s goal near the end secured the victory and now he is aiming for a first tea breakthrough.

Speaking after the game to BBC Scotland, Gullan said: “It’s a great achievement for the players. We have been excellent all season and thoroughly deserved this.

“My goal was a tap-in to be honest, I couldn’t miss.

“Oli (Shaw) did well down the right hand side and got the ball across and all I had to do was tap it in so I am delighted I have done it.

“Ryan(Porteous) Fraser (Murray) and Oli (Shaw) are knocking on the first team’s door but there is going to be a few more pushing.

“We are back in on Friday for recovery so we have no celebration planned.

“After the game the manager (Neil Lennon) was delighted. He said that we have come on leaps and bounds in the last year since he has been here.”
