American Max Ruml will make his debut in British speedway with Edinburgh Monarchs.

Max has ridden in the USA World Cup squad and was runner-up in last year’s USA National Championship behind Billy Janniro.

The rider has his plans well advanced for machinery and the 20-year-old said: “I’m super-excited. It’s been a goal since I was a little kid. I can’t wait to get over there.

“Now it’s about changing the environment and getting the experience to get to the next level. I believe I’m ready to take that next step.”

The ambitious racer has been talking to Monarchs’ Ricky Wells about what to expect.

He revealed: “I think highly of Ricky, I’ve looked up to him since I was a little kid and it makes it a bit easier to adjust to have a friend on the team who will understand what it is like for me.

“He came over to UK at a very young age I believe. I’m super-excited to be able to race alongside him.
