This June the Edinburgh Grand will open its doors to the public on St Andrew Square.
It will be more than just a luxury self catering offering as there will be a bar and restaurants open to non-residents too.
This is sure to become the new ‘in place’ to go with space for almost 200 in the bar and restaurant along with a sleek new Champagne & Cocktail Lounge and coffee house.. Formerly the HQ of the Royal Bank the original American Art Deco features of the former bank have been used to advantage by interior designer Karen Brown. She has combined old and new but with guests’ needs in the forefront of her mind.
There are smart TVs, Bose sound systems and intelligent heating controls, a fully fitted kitchen that you might like to have at home with Siemens and Nespresso appliances. And then there are the bathrooms featuring what are called drench showers….. you may never want to go home.
For a couple of years now the Chris Stewart Group has been refurbishing this building and forming fifty individually designed luxury apartments which will be run by Lateral City Apartments.
They already have fifty luxury spaces under management at Old Town Apartments and General Manager Gavin MacLennan is excited about the new building too (which he can see from the penthouse balcony on The Royal Mile)
Gavin said: “We are re-writing the blueprint on luxury accommodation with The Edinburgh Grand. It is a property which has been expertly tailored to the needs of the modern traveller – from the cutting-edge in-room technology through to the bespoke interior decoration that references the building’s illustrious heritage. Every detail has been considered. Whether guests are visiting for pleasure or for business, we have ensured that all expectations will be surpassed. It is set to become the new landmark in tourism for the capital.”
Within easy reach of trams and buses, trains and taxis, and steps from Edinburgh’s shops, restaurants and businesses, it is well placed as a new place to hang out or stay.
