Artist and blogger, the Edinburgh Sketcher captured his mesmerising visit to The Giant Lanterns of China at RZSS Edinburgh Zoo with delicately hand drawn illustrations of the showstopping installations, finished with bold watercolour paint.

The beautiful artwork showcases some of the colossal lanterns including a giant panda, Golden Lion Tamarin monkey and red silk archway entrance which leads visitors to the trail of over 450 dazzling animal-themed lanterns

The Giant Lanterns of China transform Edinburgh Zoo in a nightly light spectacle until 25 February 2018. The trail of 34 installations includes giant pandas, a 115-foot long Chinese dragon and giant Scottish thistles amid incredible illuminated flowers, insects and Chinese heritage symbols.

The Edinburgh Sketcher’s portfolio and shop can be viewed online at edinburghsketcher.com.

Tickets for The Giant Lanterns of China are priced from £9.50 and available at: edinburghzoo.org.uk/lanterns.
