Basketball Scotland have confirmed they have terminated the contract of top coach Tony Garbelotto.
The shock moves comes as Scotland’s men’s side prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
No reason was given in a short statement but the organisation say they are taking “appropriate measures” to secure a head coach ahead of the Games in the Gold Coast.
Garbelotto has also resigned from his role as head coach of the Great Britain’s men’s national team.
Kevin Pringle, chief executive of basketballscotland, said: “It is with regret that we have had to terminate Tony’s contract.
“With the Commonwealth Games fast-approaching, our focus turns to the recruitment of a new head coach to give them as much time as possible with the squad before April’s Games.”
