Police have now charged 16 people in connection with a total of 38 offences following football-related disorder in the city.

The males, aged 15 to 22, have each been charged with a public disorder offence under the Offensive Behaviour at Football & Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012.

Eleven of the males have also been charged with a total of 22 assault offences after five males were attacked during five incidents in the Gorgie and Dalry areas on 21st October 2017.

Sergeant Alex Dickson of Oxgangs Police Station said: “A number of people, who were just going about their business, were subject to attacks following a match in the city and a robust investigation has been underway since this time.

“It is the minority of people who attend football matches with the intention of causing disorder however I want to reassure all supporters that those who engage in such behaviour will be rigorously pursued.”

All sixteen males are expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at later dates.
