Spartans 5 Clachnacuddin 0
William Hill Scottish Cup 2nd Round, Saturday 14th October 2017 – Ainslie Park
Lowland League side Spartans overcame Highland League opposition Clachnacuddin 5-0 in the William Hill Scottish Cup second round in Edinburgh on Saturday.
Two goals apiece from David Greenhill and Jamie Dishington added to the opening goal from Blair Atkinson, saw an impressive Spartans side run out easy winners.
However, the match was overshadowed by what appeared to be a serious injury to Clach keeper Douglas MacLennan who took a blow to his neck going for a fifty-fifty ball. The game was suspended for nearly forty minutes while the keeper received medical treatment which involved an ambulance being called for and entering the field of play.
Spartans will face more Highland League opposition in the shape of Fraserburgh when the Broch visit Ainslie Park in Round Three of the William Hill Scottish Cup on 18th November.
Spartans: Stobie, Herd, Brown, Tolmie, Thomson, Greenhill, Atkinson, McFarland, Allum, Stevenson, Dishington.
