Captain Kevin Doolan powered to 13 points as injury-hit bottom club Berwick Bandits mugged champions-elect Sheffield Tigers in the Borders.

The Aussie was backed by ten points from Austrian rider Dany Gappmaier in the shock 50-40 win.

Kyle Howarth was best for Sheffield with 14 points and Lasse Bjerre collected 13 but the rest, including guest Steve Worrall who scored five points, disappointed.

Glasgow Tigers looked to have booked a place in the end-of-season play-offs with a comfortable home win over Redcar Bears.

Stewart Dickson, Tigers’ team manager, said that this was a cup final and his men responded.

Richie Worrall powered to 14 points and Aaron Summers collected 11.

Former Tigers racer Ben Barker was best for Bears with 15 points but the home side, with three guests, stamped their authority on the match early and led 38-22 after ten races. They kept their cool to power to a 56-36 win.

Elsewhere, Edinburgh Monarchs moved closer to a play-off place with a 54-38 win at Workington Comets.

Red-hot Ricky Wells collected a 15-point maximum and was backed up by Erik Riss with 14 points.

Mason Campton top scored for the home side with 14 points and guest Ulrich Ostergaard scored nine points as did Ty Proctor.
