Ricky Wells top scored for Edinburgh at Berwick

SGB Championship: Berwick Bandits 42, Edinburgh Monarchs 48; Glasgow Tigers 51, Newcastle Diamonds 42

Ricky Wells top scored with 14 points as Edinburgh Monarchs beat off-form Berwick Bandits in the Borders.

The New Zealand born rider was backed by Monarchs skipper Sam Masters who collected ten points in a 48-42 road win in the Borders.

Lewis Bridger was best for Berwick with 11 points but back-to-back 5-1 scorelines in heats 12 and 13 proved crucial in the match.

In Glasgow, Tigers cut down Newcastle Diamonds 51-42 despite a strong performance from former Edinburgh Monarchs star Steve Worrall.

He powered to 17 points to top score for the visitors but Tigers strength in depth told.

Steve’s twin brother Richie was best for Tigers with 11 points while Nike Lunna collected nine.

Jack Smith, Tigers’ promising Reserve rider, was withdrawn after a crash in Heat Four.
