Edinburgh’s Lord Provost Donald Wilson finished his third Virgin Money London Marathon today.

Running in his trademark ‘chain’ of office running gear, he completed the 26.2 miles to raise money for the One City Trust, adding to the more than £12,000 total he has raised for the charity so far over the three marathons.
The money raised will be go towards fighting inequality in Edinburgh. The OneCity Trust has provided emergency funds to local Edinburghorganisations such as Get2Gether, which helps young people with disabilities socialise and build friendships, and Bridge8, which provides a gateway to Edinburgh’s outdoors to support disadvantaged young people.
The Lord Provost’s donation page will remain live until he completes another marathon on 28 May at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/LordProvost.
The Lord Provost said: “There’s nothing easy about a marathon and I’m relieved to have once again made it to the finish line! If you told me a few years ago that I’d be running from Blackheath to Buckingham Palace once, let alone three times, I would have thought you were mad! This race has been a London Marathon hat-trick for me and it really has been an incredible experience. I would like to say well done to the thousands of other people who took part and thank the many people who have supported me every step and every mile of the way.
“That said, the challenge isn’t over yet. After a short rest, I’ll be back in training for the Edinburgh Marathon in just a few weeks’ time! I’m still fundraising, running for Edinburgh and all of the groups and organisations that have and will be helped by the One City Trust, so my donation page is still live. Please help me make the training and pain worth it if you can!”
