There will be lots to do today in the Grassmarket! That’s a promise. But its not our promise it is the promise of the Business Improvement District Greater Grassmarket.

Step back in time with the Greater Grassmarket Vintage Weekend!

The Grassmarket will be transformed into a vintage wonderland on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th April, 12pm – 5pm (market trading from 10am).

Admire a range of classic cars and bikes, watch the models work the catwalk showcasing local vintage fashion, and browse the market (for local pre-loved treasures such as vinyl records, pre-loved clothing and accessories, and bric-a-brac). Local boutiques such as Armstrongs Vintage Edinburgh and Godiva Boutique will be trading at the Vintage market throughout the weekend, as well as collaborating in the fashion show.

There will be a range of 30-minute long vintage variety shows with performances including cabaret style magicians, acrobats and French can-can dancing showgirls. There will also be live music at 4pm each day from rockabilly kings ‘The Shiverin’ Sheiks‘. Children can also enjoy street entertainment taking place all day throughout the Grassmarket.

Norrie Stewart, Grassmarket BID Project Manager, said :  “Not only is the Grassmarket home to Armstrongs, Britain’s largest vintage emporium dating back to 1840, but there are over 50 independent retailers located in the Greater Grassmarket, with many specialising in vintage fashion and accessories, or antique goods.

“We want to celebrate the rise of vintage goods and encourage everyone to get involved, whether it’s through browsing the local market and shops, watching the fleet of classic cars drive through the historic Old Town, or enjoying the retro entertainment with friends and family.”
