Three venues in Edinburgh have been nominated in different categories in the Best Bar None Scotland National Awards 2016-17 .
The Cav has been nominated in the Nightclub category, no doubt spurred on by its cameo role in Trainspotting T2, The Corn Exchange has been nominated in Specialist Entertainment Venue category and the Murrayfield Hotel has been chosen in the Hotel Bar slot.
Drinkaware is the lead sponsor of the awards and they back the Innovation in Social Responsibility category in particular.
Recognising each venue’s contribution to encourage customer and staff safety while supporting a good night out, the prestigious National Awards acknowledge the best work and innovative practices on offer among the 400 plus Best Bar None accredited venues in Scotland.
The scheme focusses on customer care and public safety, preventing crime and public nuisance, and accreditation means that the venue and its staff have had training. The National Awards recognise best practice which should translate into better service for customers.
Councillor Eric Milligan, Convener of the Edinburgh Licensing Board, said: “It’s great news to hear that these three venues have been recognised nationally for the work they do to ensure the safety and comfort of customers, staff and the public in general.
“As the Best Bar None scheme continues to expand across Edinburgh, I am pleased to see more venues meeting the high level of standards required to achieve accreditation. I wish each of our finalists the best of luck in the awards and congratulate them for their work to become exemplary licensed premises.”
Arlene Campbell, National Lead for Best Bar None Scotland, said: “The National Best Bar None Awards continue to grow year on year and it’s great to see so many venues from different corners of Scotland being represented.
“Across the country Best Bar None accredited venues are continuously raising standards and as always judging will be difficult given the high calibre of finalists on show.
“I’d like to extend my congratulations to our finalists and wish them all the best on the night.”
