The Commonwealth Games will take place in 2018 at the Gold Coast, Australia. And two people who would love to be there could do with a bit of help.
Lynne Beattie and Mel Coutts are Scotland’s leading Beach Volleyball team and they are trying to qualify for the very first games at which the sport will be featured.
To get there the duo need to take part in as many international competitions as they can to get points and also to improve. They are training twice daily as well as working full-time to get into the best position they can.
Lynne Beattie was born in Glasgow but now lives in Edinburgh and works with Scottish Volleyball. She captained the Great Britain Volleyball Team in 2012 at the Olympic Games and was most recently Scottish National League Champion and Player of the Year 2016.
Mel Coutts was born in Cambridge but now lives in Edinburgh too working with Sport & Outdoor Learning. She is one of the most decorated Beach Volleyball players in the UK and most recently won the most valuable player award at the 2015 Weymouth Classic.
They feel quite confident about qualifying but they need some financial support to get their toes onto that Gold Coast beach.
You can follow what they are doing here on their website and you could perhaps give them a little donation on their crowdfunding page to help them go for gold.
