If you prefer to take the car shopping then of course you will be tempted to one of our out of town shopping centres, and it seems that many of you have!
Fort Kinnaird boss Liam Smith told us that the centre is gearing up for a busy Christmas shopping season as they reveal a record footfall period.
The number of people visiting Fort Kinnaird in the three months over summer spiked by 700,000 compared to the same period the year before. Animatronic dinosaurs thrilled crowds who enjoyed days shopping and dining at its leading brands.
Stores will be looking for approximately 400 Christmas staff to cope with the expected rush.
Liam Smith who is Centre Manager at Fort Kinnaird, said:“Our offering continues to go from strength to strength and this summer’s footfall figures show that customers are finding more of what they want to enjoy here at Fort Kinnaird. The dinosaurs were a fantastic spectacle and immensely popular.
“We now all firmly have Christmas on the brain. With a great range of retailers, restaurants and a cinema, we are looking forward to one of our busiest seasons yet with people enjoying days and evenings Christmas shopping and enjoying festive meetings with friends and family.”
Fort Kinnaird already has the longest opening hours of any shopping destination in Edinburgh with the majority of its retailers open until 10pm on weekdays and its restaurants and cinema later. Details of even longer opening hours in the run-up to Christmas will soon be announced.
