Katrina Lambert is a Girlguiding member in Edinburgh who has just become a delegate on the British Youth Council (BYC) to speak out about issues affecting girls and young women.
Katrina will hold the post for two years, and earlier this month she attended her first meeting in London at Girlguiding’s HQ there. She is expected to attend several meetings throughout the year to talk about issues such as body confidence and representation of women and girls in the media.
She will represent Girlguiding the UK’s leading charity for girls and young women and will suggest campaigning issues.
Delegates play a key role in Girlguiding’s work, and they were guided during their induction week by the author and founder of the Everyday Sexism project, Laura Bates.
A member of the 1st Colinton Senior Section Katrina also volunteers with the local Rainbow Group. She said: “I’m really excited to be a member of Girlguiding’s British Youth Council delegation. I’m looking forward to getting involved with campaigns, making sure my voice is heard and making a difference.”
