Lewis Stevenson says that he wants to win the Scottish Cup to make amends to fans for not getting promoted this season.
The left-back, who will feature in his third Scottish Cup Final for the Club, hopes that the team will do enough on the day of the William Hill Scottish Cup Final against Rangers on Saturday to be able to bring success to the supporters, who he feels have been excellent throughout his Hibernian career.
A victory would also see him enter the record books as the only Hibs player to win two major cup medals for the club, but he is not thinking about that.
The popular Fifer told Hibs TV: “It’s an occasion that you dream about playing in. We are all looking forward to it. We have amends to make and there is no better way to do it than lifting the cup.
“Rangers are a good team. They keep the ball well but they do take chances at the back so they give you a chance but they have good players and are a lot better than they were last season.
“We have showed this season that we can beat them but they will probably think the same. It’s whoever plays best on the day. We just need to concentrate on the football match.
“Hampden Park is always a good pitch and I have good and bad memories from there and it’s where you want to play as a young boy and luckily I have had the chance to play there a few times.
“The supporters have been amazing. I have said before that we need to give them more to cheer week in week out and we’ve been nearly getting there so often, as a player it’s hard to take, and it’s just as hard to take as a fan.
“I want to win it as much, if not more, than the fans do and we’ll give it our best shot against Rangers and hopefully that’ll be enough on the day.
“Ever since I came to Hibs, the Scottish Cup is the thing the fans talk about. It’s obviously a massive thing at this club.”
