Summer Beer & Food Fest is Edinburgh’s first collaboration festival taking place on Saturday 1st August at Stewart Brewing. Rather than hosting an event by themselves, the local craft brewery wanted to organise a real celebration and as such, have decided to team up with local & likeminded food and drink producers and industry specialists – A local cheesemonger, ice cream maker and a distiller are being let loose in Stewart’s brewery to concoct their own beer.

Think beer gardens, street food, live music and beaming sunshine. Alas, fine weather cannot be guaranteed but a ridiculously good line-up of limited edition beers and local food can be confirmed. S.Luca Ice Cream will even be serving their award-winners out of their Rolls-Royce and Big Blu will be stone firing pizzas like nobody’s business.

With talk of Tom Kitchin brewing an Oyster Stout and S.Luca Ice Cream incorporating one of their fabulous sorbets in to their collaboration beer, there are sure to be several definite show stoppers and table talkers. If beer isn’t your thing, for whatever reason, Stewart’s will be brewing some cider batches and they are even trialling their own lemonade and cola recipes. No stone unturned!

Talking about his involvement in the Summer Beer & Food Fest, leading Michelin star chef Tom Kitchin said; “Many local producers, like Stewart Brewing, are genuinely passionate and incredibly innovative. It’s great to see Stewart’s bringing all these wonderful local food and drink producers together. I hope the festival encourages more people to seek out local suppliers, and try some new and wonderful food and drink combinations.”

The Year of Food and Drink, an initiative backed by VisitScotland and Scotland Food and Drink, is encouraging small batch producers to host events and celebrate what they do best. By collaborating together, all those involved in Summer Beer and Food Fest have several voices shouting and promoting the same thing.

James Withers, Chief Executive of the Year of Food and Drink, comments on the Summer Beer & Food Fest: “Stewart Brewing’s Festival this summer is an excellent showcase of local suppliers which demonstrate Scotland’s outstanding provenance credentials and the quality of our fantastic larder. The event will be a great opportunity to enjoy our Land of Food and Drink whatever the weather!”

All of the producers are aiming to encourage as many locals as possible to join in on the fun, enjoy high quality food and drink and spread the gospel of local produce. Live music will accompany the day from Daddy Naggins, Monticvule and Loanhead Folk.

Summer Beer & Food Festival takes place at Stewart Brewing on the 1st August, 12pm – 6pm.

Tickets will cost £10 online at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/summer-beer-food-fest-tickets-16351228966.
