Hearts have announced that Brian Cormack, Foundation of Hearts director, has been appointed to the board of Heart of Midlothian FC. In accordance with the agreement between current Hearts majority shareholder Ann Budge’s BIDCO and the fans group, Cormack has joined Foundation of Hearts chairman Ian Murray MP in becoming an official club director at Tynecastle.

The appointment of Cormack, 51, is another step towards the handover process that will see Budge hand control of the club to the Foundation of Hearts in 2019.

Cormack told the official Hearts website “It was an honour to be asked by the FoH board, and it was accepted by Ann and the Hearts board that I am the next person to join the Hearts board – so it’s fantastic.

“I never imagined one day becoming a Hearts director. When I got involved with the Foundation it was never in my thoughts, we were just trying to save the club.

“There is already a strong relationship between both FoH and the club and this only strengthens that.

“Ann has said that she feels the club and the Foundation are one, and that’s exactly how we feel.”

The Foundation of Hearts currently has more than 8,000 pledgers who provide Hearts with an additional income of approximately £1.5 million per year.

Hearts have also announced that former player Liam Fox, currently combining playing with Raith Rovers with coaching Hearts Under 17s, will leave Starks Park to concentrate on his coaching responsibilities at Tynecastle. Fox will also assist Development Manager Jack Ross with the Hearts Under 20s and provide additional support to Head Coach Robbie Neilson.

Meanwhile, Hearts will travel to SPFL Championship side Dumbarton for a friendly match on July 9.
