2011_10 Police signs 11

Police are appealing for witnesses following the assault and robbery of an 82 year old woman which took place around 5.20pm in a lane adjacent to the Brunton Hall in Musselburgh this evening.

The victim was pushed to the ground and robbed of her handbag and shopping bag.

Police are urgently appealing for witnesses who may have seen the suspect in the area.

He is described as white, small, aged in his 30s, slim build, brown curly hair, and wearing blue anorak

Detective Constable John Fortune said: “This was an appalling assault and robbery, leaving the elderly victim very shaken and sore.

This is one of a spate of bag snatches in Musselburgh and is being investigated under Operation Formby.
