Local entertainer, Jack Rowberry, took top accolade for “Best Acoustic” Act at this year’s Scottish Alternative Music Awards. Rowberry was one of six nominees in the running for this award at the event held in Glasgow last week.
After receiving the award, which was presented by radio DJ and presenter, Jim Gellatly, Jack said: “To everyone who has ever shared a SoundCloud link, liked a Facebook post or sacrificed their hard earned cash and bought a ticket for one of our shows, it means the world to know our hard work is not wasted. Thanks for voting.”
Phillippa Jeffrey, manager of Jack Rowberry, said: “I am so proud to be part of Jack’s success. This award is a massive achievement and a testament to Jack’s talent and hard work.”
The acoustic category was sponsored by Splitter Scotland. The panel of judges was made up of various music industry professionals including the organiser of the event, Richy Muirhead.
Jack is an accomplished singer, songwriter & blues guitarist from Edinburgh. Citing the likes of John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and John Mayer as inspirations to his music evidently places him in a category of his own with his rootsy guitar sound. With several sell-out shows, high profile support slots and festival appearances under his belt, Jack Rowberry is now a recognisable name on the UK music scene. His second EP is due for release at the end of the month with new tour dates just having been released on his website.
