Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspicious fire which happened around 4am this morning at a house in Calder Gardens.
Occupants at the address were woken after the front door had been set alight, however, they all escaped uninjured.
The fire service were able to quickly extinguish the flames before any further damage could be caused to the property and police are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
Detective Inspector Rory Hamilton said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing. However, we are satisfied that the fire was started deliberately.
“Fortunately, no one from inside the house suffered any injury. However, this could have had far more serious consequences had the flames spread prior to the occupants waking.
“Anyone who was in Calder Gardens on Tuesday morning and remembers seeing anything suspicious, or who has information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact police immediately.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
