In 2013, Warrender Baths Club is celebrating its 125th year Anniversary. Established in 1888, Warrender is one of Edinburgh and Scotland’s oldest and most prestigious sporting clubs. Our Anniversary year culminates in a Gala Night to be held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool on the 7th December.

This evening will celebrate the history and tradition of the Club by running the Decades Relay; a 4 x 50M relay with teams from each decade racing off against each other. David Wilkie MBE will be a key member of the 1970’s team, having won a gold medal in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. Along with Olympic Medalists Keri-anne Payne, Gordon Downie and Alan McClatchey and Olympian Craig Benson, it looks set to be a star-studded event!

In addition to the decades relay, there will also be other events showcased on the evening, including the 50m Christmas Handicap, the Long Plunge and the Most Graceful Swimmer competitions. With over 300 current competitive swimmers involved in the Club from as young as 8 years-old, it will be an impressive display of swimming skills!

Warrender Baths Club are keen to encourage all interested members of the public to attend this unique evening of swimming nostalgia – admission is free and it promises to be a spectacular event. Just turn up at the Royal Commonwealth Pool on Saturday 7th December from 4pm until 7pm to take part in the fun!
