Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following an assault and robbery in the Muirhouse area of the capital last night (Wednesday 17 July).
About 10pm a dozen foreign exchange students were socialising outside the Millennium Centre on Muirhouse Medway when they were confronted by a group of around 15-20 local youths. Two of the students were assaulted and robbed, and another two students received minor injuries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a group of foreign students who are currently staying with host families in Edinburgh.
“Inquiries are continuing and we are determined to find those responsible for this attack. Additional high visibility police patrols are in the area and anyone with any information is asked to contact us.”
Those responsible for the attack were within a group of both males and females and aged between around 9-18 years of age.
Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, or make an anonymous report through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
