After their critically acclaimed, box office success, Hiraeth Artistic Productions transfers their 80s inspired production of Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus to the Edinburgh Fringe 2013.

From the company who created sell-out productions of Macbeth at the Barons Court Theatre, the controversial burlesque styled Red Riding Hood for Nabokov Arts Club, the critically acclaimed A Life in the Theatre, ROMEO+JULIET and Lorca’s Blood Wedding comes an innovative and exciting adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic tale of war, revenge, honour and rivalry transported into the underbelly of 1980s London.

Set deep inside British extremist, skinhead culture, Roman warriors are unapologetically replaced with National Front political soldiers and their armour switched for military style shaved heads, combat boots, drugs and knives.

In the midst of a vicious turf war on the streets of London, Titus’ son is murdered by Alarbus, the son of a powerful immigrant matriarch. The murder sparks into action an uncontrollable and catastrophic cycle of violent and bloody revenge. As the aggression rapidly escalates, Titus is pushed to the brink of insanity, culminating in a ferocious and unforgiving climax.

In a world where survival is balancing on a knife edge, just how strong are the restraints which hold us back from committing the most heinous monstrosities in the name of self-preservation?

Doused in 80’s politics, music, fashion and culture, ‘Titus Andronicus’ is an exciting and engaging explosion of corrupt humanity at its most extreme – Not for the faint of heart!
