The organisers said that there were eventually around 10,000 people who attended the Sky Ride in Holyrood Park yesterday. It was a bit difficult to say how many people there were as they did not all arrive at the one time but it was certainly a draw for families who used the opportunity to get their young children out onto the roads in the Park that they might not otherwise have been able to do. Some very young cyclists were seen at the top of Arthur’s Seat, but  not all made it either up or down actually on their two wheels as there are parts which are quite steep. Some walking and pushing was needed to complete the route for some of the participants!

There was some entertainment on offer in the park too from all sorts of cycling stands to displays of daring by stunt cyclists as you can see in our videos which are part of our Flickr slideshow.

Here is what some of those at the event thought about it:-

And sorry no we did not get an interview with Sir Chris Hoy who was being shielded from the media by Sky, but we understand the Edinburgh Evening News will have an interview with him on Monday!

Also one of the best questions at the Q and A with Sir Chris was reputed to be the little girl who asked him how old he was when he took his stabilisers off….
