“April Foolery” will abound at Edinburgh castle this Easter weekend with a full programme of events on Saturday and Sunday.

From noon until 4pm on each day, the castle will host French themed events, including jester performances, fashion and make-up sessions, and an appearance by none other than Mary Queen of Scots.

Historic Scotland Events and Promotion Executive, Jonathan Brown, said that the purpose of the event is to give participants a chance to learn about the courts and lifestyle of the 16th-century Queen. “We’ve got plenty of interactive and visual parts of the event and the kids actually have an opportunity to learn to do some things like juggling, plate spinning, and balancing acts,” he explained.

Brown also added: “It’s appropriate for all the family.  There’s humour and activities provided for every age group.”

Entry to “April Foolery” is included in the regualar Edinburgh Castle ticket price, which can be purchased at the Castle Gate or at http://tickets.historic-scotland.gov.uk/webstore/shop/ViewItems.aspx?CG=TKTS&C=GA
