The Moonwalk are looking for volunteers to help out. 1000 volunteers are needed to ensure The MoonWalk Edinburgh 2012 runs smoothly. Be part of this amazing event in which thousands of women and men will power walk the streets of Edinburgh at night wearing wonderfully decorated bras – and with this year’s theme of ‘Midnight at the Oasis’ it promises to be colourful to say the least!

A new wildflower meadow will be planted this morning in Prestonfield Park as a group of local primary school children put in the first flowers in time for spring.
Over 600 wildflower plants will be planted in the meadow with school children, council employees and volunteers from the Prestonfield and Cameron House Gardening Group all getting involved.
Prestonfield and Cameron House Gardening Group was set up in 2003 to help improve the green spaces in the area. A small group of keen volunteers carry out a variety of gardening works in Prestonfield Park, Prestonfield War Memorial Grounds and the general Prestonfield area.
Work has been ongoing to make improvements to Prestonfield Park and a grant of £6,641 was awarded from WREN last year with the City of Edinburgh Council funding a further £3,500 towards projects.
In the last few months a new picnic table, seats, flower tubs, bird boxes and litter bins have been installed in the park.
It is hoped that new efforts in Prestonfield Park will help secure the park its first Green Flag as it has been entered into the award scheme for the very first time this year.
Sarah Burns, South Neighbourhood Manager for the City of Edinburgh Council, said:- “The work in Prestonfield Park has been a real joint effort between the local community, volunteers and the Council. The park is now looking really good following the recent works and we will be hoping for Green Flag success in the summer.”
