10,000 people lined The Mound this evening to see the Christmas Tree being lit up. Lord Provost George Grubb and Convener of Hordaland County Council, Tom-Christer Nilsen, who gifted the tree to the City of Edinburgh Council were both there to launch the event, but it was the 14 metre Snow Queen who stole the show.
Unfortunately the weather meant that the planned fireworks had to be curtailed for safety reasons.
It was a bit wet and windy!
