Oxjam Edinburgh have told The Reporter that the Edinburgh Takeover 2011 is happening today 21 October 2011. This multi venue festival is taking place at Cabaret Voltaire, Sneaky Pete’s, Electric Circus, The Wee Red Bar, Medina and the Banshee Labyrinth with The Left Bank (formerly The Store) as Oxjam Edinburgh HQ.
The lineup includes an array of amazing local bands: As in Bear, Black International, Citizens, Dead Boy Robotics, Endor, Esperi, FOUND, French Wives, i build collapsible mountains, Broken Records (solo), The Last Battle, Letters, The Machine Room, Meursault, PAWS, Sebastian Dangerfield, The Spook School, Trapped in Kansas, Trapped Mice, Vasquez and Verse Metrics with a few more TBA.
Oxjam is about using local music for global impact, raising funds to support Oxfam’s work. This year Oxjam is supporting Oxfam’s GROW campaign which has the message “Food. Life. Planet”. “It’s a global movement for better ways to grow, share and live together. It’s all about addressing the broken food system so we can put enough food on the table for everyone.”
On the day The Left Bank is acting as festival HQ from 3pm – 3am, housing wristband exchange so electronic and paper tickets can be swapped. Wristbands grant access to all venues and the afterparty at The Left Bank which will feature dj sets from PAWS and Fresh Air with others TBA. There will also be a bunch of acoustic sets happening here from 5pm, prior to the other venues opening at 7pm. Additionally merchandise and homebaking will be on sale and Oxfam representatives will be there to chat about the GROW campaign.
Wristbands are £10 and are available from Avalanche Records, Tickets Scotland and WeGotTickets.
