Warm hearted staff members from Dulux Decorator Centres’ stores across the region came together recently to undertake a 14 mile trek from the company’s Edinburgh West store, situated on Turnhouse Road, to the Forth Bridge, to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland and Alzheimer’s Society. The decorating Specialist have chosen these two charities as a focus for their fundraising this year.
Chris Adams, manager of the Dulux Decorator Centres’ Edinburgh West store, joined nine of his colleagues to complete the trek in under five hours, raising more than £2,000 for the charities, which support people living with dementia and fund research into the condition.
Chris commented:- “The whole team had a wonderful time during the walk and we received fantastic support from our customers and the local community.
“It was tough going at times, but doubling our original fundraising target of £1,000 to raise over £2,000 for Alzheimer Scotland and Alzheimer’s Society made all the aching joints and muscles worth it!
“We would like to thank our colleagues, friends, families and customers for their generosity – the money raised will go a long way in supporting the charities in their amazing work.”
Alistair Fergusson, corporate & trusts fundraising manager for Alzheimer Scotland, said: “We want to thank all the staff of Dulux Decorator Centres for fundraising for Alzheimer Scotland in such a challenging and successful way.
“We believe that no-one should go through dementia on their own, which is why this charity partnership with the Dulux Decorator Centres is so important to us.
“To take part in an event like this requires commitment and dedication, and we are so grateful to everyone who took part to raise such a fabulous sum of money on our behalf.”
Dulux Decorator Centres has committed to a two year partnership with national charities Alzheimer Scotland and Alzheimer’s Society, and is aiming to raise at least £100K for this worthwhile cause by April 2013.
