Restalrig will be entering into the festival spirit this summer with its own community event to be held this Saturday 30 July.

The fun-filled day, held at Restalrig Park, hopes to engage local residents with a variety of different activities in their area.  It will seek to provide a festival feel that, it is hoped, will ‘lift community spirit.’

The Restalrig Festival will host a range of free activities available on the day, all aimed at promoting healthy living and community engagement.  On offer will be taster zumba classes, football skills training, rock wall climbing and a range of other activities. You can follow what is happening on Twitter.

Also in attendance will be the police, fire service and Council officials – giving the community a chance to discuss with them important issues and future priorities for the area.

Councillor Paul Edie, Community Safety Leader, said:- “This initiative is a great way to encourage the local community to find out more about what their area has to offer. It is important for residents of all ages to come together at an event like this and I’m sure this fun-packed day will prove a resounding success.”

Inspector Kevin McLean, from Lothian and Borders Police, said:- “We are delighted to participate in this event, and it’s pleasing that so many people are involved.

Lothian and Borders Police is committed to engaging with local communities to improve quality of life and we hope that this event will contribute to this.”

The event is organised in partnership with The City of Edinburgh Council, Lothian and Borders Police, The Leith Neighbourhood Partnership, Hawkhill Court and Nisbet Court Tenants Association and The Ripple Project (more information about that initiative here)
