A man died on Sunday after being pulled out of the Water of Leith in Stockbridge. The Herald reports that he was an 84 year-old pensioner.

Notwithstanding that the July 30 wedding of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall is a family occasion from which the public are to be excluded, there will be an amount of public and media interest. Since the bride’s grandmother is The Queen, there is also a need for security in Edinburgh during that weekend. The Edinburgh Evening News reports that the bill for extra police in the city will be around £500,000, and Lothian & Borders Police will have to pay it.
