The convicted killer, Luke Mitchell, is to appear in court later today in his latest attempt to overturn his conviction by appealing to the UK Supreme Court according to the BBC .
This is another case in the Cadder mould where Mitchell is claiming a breach of his human rights since he was questioned by police without a solicitor being present.
Lothian and Borders Police have just begun a two week campaign against summer drinking and driving.
The initiative, which ends on Monday June 20, will see high visibility patrols and unmarked police vehicles deployed on local roads. In addition, road checks will also take place at various times and locations across the Force area.
Their website advises that:-“The fortnight of activity will target those people who still think that it is acceptable to get behind the wheel while drunk or on drugs. This ‘hard core’ of offenders, who persist in flouting the law in the mistaken belief that they won’t get caught, will be the focus of police attention.”
