A four-year-old boy had to be freed by firefighters after his leg became trapped in a bike last night.
Firefighters were called out at 6.30pm to an address at Easter Road, Edinburgh, after the youngster’s leg became stuck between the fork and the wheel. It’s understood that he had been riding on the handlebars of the bike with his father when the accident happened.
He slipped forward and the bike went over him leaving his leg stuck. Crews used pliers and small tools to release him. An ambulance was at the scene but the boy did not require further medical treatment.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said:
“Fortunately our firefighters have a lot of experience extricating people from various situations. They were able to free the young boy quite quickly and he did not require to go to hospital. We hope he makes a speedy recovery.”
